If you have a few minutes...

Once every 12 years, Texas "sunsets" many of its government agencies. This means that a government agency will cease to exist unless the Sunset Commission - a separate state agency that conducts a comprehensive, multi-level review of all government agencies - recommends that the legislature reauthorize that particular agency.

As you may already know, the Sunset process for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) begins this fall. The Sunset Commission will audit TDCJ and review its operations through public hearings, testimony, and expert review. Overall, the Commission will produce recommendations that will immediately influence a major piece of legislation that will determine how TDCJ administers its prisons, its parole and probation systems, and its treatment programs. For more information, go to www.tdcj.state.tx.us/bpp/sunset_review.htm
Your response to our ANONYMOUS survey will help us inform other members of the public about the Sunset review process.

IMPORTANT: We are in a time crunch - this information MUST be compiled by us and submitted to the Sunset Commission's staff no later than June 1st, so PLEASE RESPOND TODAY.

Here is a link to the survey:
